It doesn’t matter where you are, the economy isn’t great; jobs are
lacking, wages are low, but technology is on the rise and it could be
the answer to your problems. Do you want to make a living, but without
having to do a 9-5 shift in an office, or without having to do something
that involved travelling back and forward to work. Maybe you never want
to leave the house at all. The fact of the matter is that with the
internet, you don’t actually have to.
Can you write?
You don’t have to be a novelist, but if you want
to make a living from the internet you need to be motivated and you need
to be capable. Particularly when it comes to writing. Why? Because one
of the biggest foundations of making money online is blogging. Not
Tumblr micro-blogging that you might already be doing, but real
blogging, building an audience, getting advertising on a website,
writing things that people really care about – that sort of blogging.
It’s a long, hard road, but it can be incredibly profitable if done
right.
Step One – Blog your little heart out.
I don’t really care what else you do, just blog
like your life depended on it, chances are it sort of does. You should
be producing a post every week, at the least, and you should be blogging
about things that matter, but not just anything. I’m not going to tell
you step by step how to blog, because if you don’t know that then you
definitely aren’t going to make a living from it. One of the most
important things in the beginning is to build a fully established blog
that can be seen by your readers and by search engines as an industry
expert.
Step Two – Get some advertising on your blog.
Advertising is where the money comes from, bus
only once you actually have an audience. The number of people going to
your website every day will be the factor that impacts how much you can
earn from advertising. If you want to actually be able to make a living
from ad revenue alone then you will need to have not just a lot of
people visiting your website, but millions. You should give careful
consideration as to whether this is something you can accomplish.
Advertising is a good starting way of bringing some money to the blog,
but you would need a huge blog following in order to make a living from
this and you would need to show that your following can be maintained.
Step Three – Sell something
It doesn’t matter whether you start selling your
services, your cook book or little knitted costumes for tortoises, if
you have a following and you can provide a product or service that is
interesting or helpful to that audience then you will find that you make
sales. Depending on how good and popular your product is this could
help you to not only further grow your following, but could also provide
you with a more reasonably sized income.
Step Four – Expand
You might not be making enough from advertising or your products to actually make a living at first, but this is something that expansion can help with. Those who do make a living from blogging alone will often have a selection of different blogs, each of which will cover a different topic in order to exploit of much of the market as possible, increase audience and thus advertising gains and of course to give you different audiences to promote your products and services with.
